Getting started
- What do I actually get from one prompt?
- A finished video file. Qmotion writes a script from your line, breaks it into scenes, generates a still for each, animates that still, adds voice-over and music, and renders the result to an mp4 you can download.
- How long does a video take?
- Most of the wait is GPU time on the video engines. A short clip is a few minutes; a five-minute film with several premium shots runs closer to two hours. Progress is shown per scene while it works, so you can leave and come back.
- Do I need to know anything about video?
- No. The default path is one sentence and a Generate button. Everything else — engine per scene, shot type, camera move, transitions — is there if you want it, and ignored if you do not.
People and faces
- Why does the person look different in every scene?
- Because no character is attached. Without one, each scene generates its own face from the description alone. Upload a photo under Characters, attach it to the project, and that face is locked into every shot. The editor warns you before you spend anything if a project has no cast.
- Can I have more than one person in a video?
- Yes. Attach several characters and each scene keeps whichever one it features, so a two-hander holds both faces across the whole film.
- What happens to the photo I upload?
- It goes to the face-matching model so your likeness stays consistent, and it is stored with your project. It is never shown to other users and never used to train a model. Deleting the character deletes the photo. See the privacy policy.
Credits and pricing
- How is a video priced?
- Per scene, by the engine that scene uses. The cheapest self-hosted engines start at 3 credits a scene and the premium external ones cost more. The exact number is shown next to each engine before you generate anything.
- What if a render fails?
- Credits are returned automatically once a generation has used up its retries. A prompt stopped by content moderation never reaches a GPU, so it costs nothing at all.
- Why is an engine greyed out?
- That engine is not available on this deployment right now — usually because the external service behind it is not connected. The ones that are available work; nothing you can select will fail for that reason.
When something goes wrong
- A scene says "failed" — what do I do?
- The scene tells you why in plain language, and the retry button stays visible on failed clips. Most failures are the GPUs being briefly unavailable, and a retry is all that is needed. Nothing is charged for the failed attempt.
- My video is shorter than I asked for.
- The length comes from the number of scenes the script generator wrote. Add scenes in the timeline, or extend individual clips by dragging their right edge, and render again.
- The captions show stage directions instead of dialogue.
- That was a bug and is fixed — captions now use what is spoken or sung. If you still see a scene description on screen, edit that scene's voice-over field in the inspector and regenerate.
